Safari Big 5 Wildlife Photography

from
$5,857

18th May to 28th May 2020 (11 Days)

A trip designed for photographers who are interested in going for an intensive, yet luxury photo safari. This specially-curated itinerary is designed for a small and exclusive group of wildlife photographers, who will have the opportunity to travel with a professional wildlife photographer in tow.

The wildlife playgrounds for this trip are situated in South Africa, where professional wildlife photographer Julian W. has been there for more than 40 times.  Moving away from the very crowded Kruger National Park, Julian will lead the distinguished guests to two other best-kept secret locations which are more exclusive, but yet still has a great record of superb wildlife sightings and photography.

This 11 day trip will consist of up to 13 game drives in big 5 game reserves, namely Madikwe and Welgevoneden.  Both reserves are extremely well-managed with an abundant of wildlife, and importantly, they are not open to day visitors (like Kruger), so it is more exclusive for our guests.  With so many game drives arranged, this program is well-positioned to provide the best chances to photograph all members of the big 5 family, and also a good variety of birds and other wildlife.

Only 5 wild photographers are invited for this trip.  Minimum 4 photographers to go.

Kindly note that single supplement is optional and the cost would be S$1485.

Do confirm early to avoid disappointment!

All about the Safari Big 5 Wildlife Photography.

About Madikwe Game Reserve:

Madikwe Game Reserve is currently the fifth largest game reserve and is also one of the lesser- known parks in South Africa. With its diverse landscapes and abundance of animals, it is a special destination for a true safari experience.

This makes it a hidden gem – it is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa and offers the Big 5 in a 680 km2 park (750 km2 including newly incorporated privately owned land). The park offers a number of luxurious lodges as well as community lodges in a malaria-free zone.

Day visitors are not allowed in the park, so the number of vehicles in the park during game drive hours is limited to the lodges’ vehicles, which makes Madikwe a very exclusive safari destination

Amongst the 66 mammal species resident at Madikwe Game Reserve are the infamous Big 5 – the elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. Add to that giraffe, hippo, cheetah, wild dog and hyena and you have the Madikwe Top Ten!

The term “Big 5” was coined by big game hunters to describe what they deemed to be the five most dangerous animals to hunt.  However, nowadays the term is widely used to describe these magnificent animals, which feature on most wildlife enthusiasts lists of must-see game.

About Welgevonden Game Reserve:

The rich and diverse Waterberg region offers an amazing variety of unspoilt habitats. Overall, more than 129 mammals, 350 birds and 2,000 plant species can be found within these habitats.

Other mammals indigenous to the Waterberg region include giraffe, rhinoceros and warthog. The African Porcupine makes use of the region’s cavernous cliff habitats. The cliffs also provide a home for the Fever Tree which the bushmen believed had a special power to allow communication with the dead.

The area’s birdlife is predominantly to be found in and around the region’s many rivers and wetlands. The riverine areas are also home to the Nile crocodile and to hippopotamus.

As if all this wasn’t already enough, Welgevonden Reserve’s big mammal population, the Big 5 are in abundance as well as cheetah, brown hyena, honey badger and a whole lot more.
